CHYMORVAH
Our Story
Chymorvah is situated at the eastern end of Marazion, on the Penzance to Helston and Falmouth road. It was built by Richard Rooke Michell, a wealthy
tin mineowner in the mid-1800s to house his ever-increasing family. The house is solidly built of granite and stands proudly above Mount’s Bay enjoying splendid seascapes from The Lizard to Penzance and across to Newlyn West and Mousehole. Our one acre garden has several secret spots to sit and enjoy a country peace and quiet along with the gentle rise and fall of the tide on the beach below.
Here at Chymorvah you will be met by a friendly welcome. Besides excellent food in plenty and comfortable beds, you will find a warm hospitality and much happiness mingled with good service and a genuine interest in your stay.
to dinner.
Children are always welcome, and arrangements for pets are considered – just ask.
Our hotel above the bay retains some of the elegance of a hundred years ago without making our guests feel as though they are in a museum; for this was a family house and still is – family-run for families.
Once settled in, you will want to explore and we welcome an interest in our hotel, its history and its surroundings. Although this is now the twenty-first century, you could be forgiven if you thought you heard the crunch of carriage wheels upon the driveway or the shout of the gardener’s lad from the potting shed. It’s easy to confuse the sound of the sea upon the beach below with the sound of a rustling evening gown as `Madam’ descends to dinner.
